Bathurst Regional Council is currently seeking a Cemetry Services Officer to manage the day-to-day operations of Council’s cemeteries within the Bathurst Region, including customer service delivery, coordination of cemetery maintenance, regulatory compliance, policy development, providing technical advice and community consultation/involvement.

Location: Bathurst, New South Wales
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff, contractors, and voluntary programs related to cemetery maintenance
- Develop policies and programs for the operation and management of Council’s cemeteries
- Consult with stakeholders, including community groups, state and federal government, and other funeral services stakeholders
- Ensure legislative and reporting requirements for Council’s cemeteries are complied with
- Develop and maintain cemetery records
- Provide cemetery services to customers in accordance with Council adopted policies
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in administration, customer service, or related field
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a customer service or cemetery operations role
- Experience in handling sensitive situations and providing compassionate customer service, particularly involving bereavement or emotional situations
- Ability to multitask, organise, and prioritise work in a high-volume, sensitive environment
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and build rapport
- CurrentClass C NSW driver’s licence
- Demonstrated capacity to manage difficult customers and resolve conflicts between stakeholders
- Knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to cemetery operations
- Demonstrated experience in staff management
Desirable Experience/Qualifications
- Experience in a local government environment
- Certificate III in Cemetery and Crematorium Operations
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory frameworks

Salary: $1,615.10 to $1,696.99 per week + superannuation
Position status: Permanent Full-time
Hours of work: 38 hours per week with an RDO every third week
