About Us
Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
About The Role
The With You Senior Project Officer facilitates trauma-informed, rights-based system and organisational change within the legal assistance sector. This can include starting pilot projects, delivering capacity-building workshops, implementing recommendations from an evaluation and implementing initiatives from the With You Trauma-Informed Organisational Toolkit .
The Senior Project Officer also facilitates and delivers trauma-informed, rights-based training to lawyers, allied professionals and legal support staff in the national legal assistance sector.
This role is an opportunity to ensure that clients experiencing distress, mental ill-health and/or suicidality receive safe and effective legal services. The With You Project is in the implementation phase of nationally codesigned training content, although there is some scope to develop specialised training for specific legal audiences and expand delivery.

You have experience in systems and organisational change, and understand trauma-informed, rights-based practice. You can facilitate transformation towards trauma-informed, rights-based change in legal assistance services.
You are a flexible team player who thrives in a small team environment. You can establish and maintain productive working relationships with a broad range of people. You can pitch new projects, deliver training and facilitate workshops on trauma-informed, rights-based practice.

Key Knowledge And Experience
* Demonstrated understanding of the legal assistance sector.
* Experience in adult education and/or delivery of training.
* Personal/lived experience of mental ill-health and/or mental distress and ability to apply this when delivering training is welcome but not essential.

The essential requirements for this role
1. Have demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed, rights-based client service delivery.
* Have demonstrated experience in managing complex change management and/or systems change projects.
* Have demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining multiple stakeholder relationships.
* Have willingness and ability to travel interstate.
* Be willing to do a Criminal Record Check
* Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency(for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
* Live in NSW or be willing to relocate to NSW
