$80,000 + Onsite Housing (Utilities paid for) + Work Vehicle + Phone
We are looking for a farm manager to join our growing poultry business. We have a free-range broiler farm with eight sheds situated in Pt Wakefield, north of Adelaide. This is a great opportunity for a family-oriented person who wants to live in a friendly community. The nearby town has two schools, one private and one public, as well as various services and amenities. The town also has a vibrant sporting culture for those who enjoy physical activities.
As a member of the management team, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
* Ensuring the health and welfare of our animals
* Providing adequate nutrition, feed management and monitoring.
* Overseeing general farming activities such as maintaining sheds, controlling pests and weeds.
* Maintaining fences, equipment and water supply systems
* Maintain litter quality to the highest standard (Dry & friable)
* Keeping and evaluating records of farming activities.
* Oversee and supervising staff and contractors if needed
* Ensuring that the farm is always audit ready and compliant with industry standards (RSPCA, FREPA, Lilydale)
* Maintaining workplace health and safety
Education and skills required:
* Certificate III in Poultry Production or higher qualification
* Proven experience as a poultry farmer
* Extensive knowledge of poultry breeds, housing, feed, and health care
* Ability to work long hours in sometimes difficult conditions
* Strong physical stamina and endurance
* Mechanical skills for maintaining and repairing farm equipment
* Basic math skills for budgeting and record-keeping
* Knowledge of poultry industry regulations and standards
* Familiarity with animal health management
* Ability to assess and manage risk
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

To be successful in this role you will need to have a clear understanding of the commitments required with livestock.
Agriculture or related tertiary qualification in the poultry industry management will be highly regarded.
