Volunteer with Buddies Day – Make a Difference & Have Fun
Buddies Day is a free, once-a-month weekend program run by Vinnies Youth Queensland for kids aged 8-12.
It's all about giving kids a fun, safe day out where they can make friends, try new things, and connect with positive role models.
Many of our Little Buddies come from a variety of life situations; some may be going through tough times and Buddies Day provides a space where they can just be kids, build confidence, and feel they belong in a supportive, positive environment.
As a volunteer, or Big Buddy, you'll be part of the team that brings the day to life.
You'll help plan activities, hang out with the kids, join in the fun, and help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere all day long.
Each Buddies Day is unique, but we always keep things fun, active, and engaging.
Past activities have included:
Arts & crafts and cooking
Bowling, swimming, and team games
Themed celebrations
Scavenger hunts and sports
Zoo and museum trips
Science days, laser tag, and much more
Our program is built on Vinnies values of compassion, respect, courage, and community.
Buddies Day is a place where kids feel seen, supported, and celebrated – a space filled with fun, friendship, and safety.

Time RequiredThe Buddies Program Day takes place once a month on a Saturday in Inala.
Volunteers are asked to attend from 9 am to 3/4 pm.
Planning meetings are held on a weekday evening the week prior to the program.
TrainingInitial volunteer orientation and child safeguarding.
Optional opportunities to gain accredited qualifications, including Mental Health First Aid, CPR, specific volunteer workshops, and more
