About the Position

The Shire of Ashburton is seeking a motivated and community-focused Club Development Lead to support the sustainability, governance and growth of local clubs and community groups across the Shire.

Based in Tom Price and reporting to the Manager Communities, this specialist role plays an important part in strengthening the capability of volunteer-led organisations that contribute to community wellbeing, participation and connection across our towns.

In this role, you will work directly with clubs and community groups to provide practical support across governance, administration and operational capability. This includes assisting committees to strengthen planning, policies, compliance and organisational sustainability, while helping clubs navigate common challenges such as volunteer turnover, governance transitions and member engagement.

You will also coordinate and deliver a calendar of club development workshops, training opportunities and capacity building initiatives, ensuring volunteers have access to practical learning opportunities that support effective club management and long-term sustainability. The role will also assist clubs to identify and apply for relevant grants and funding opportunities, providing guidance on project design, applications and reporting requirements. A key aspect of the role involves building strong partnerships between clubs, community organisations, schools and other stakeholders, while acting as a positive conduit between community groups and Council to support collaboration, shared initiatives and clear communication. Due to the geographically dispersed nature of the Shire, regular travel between towns is an essential part of the role to ensure equitable access to support and consistent delivery of the Shire’s Club Development Plan across all communities. To be successful in this role, you will bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to build trusted relationships with volunteers and community leaders, and a proactive approach to supporting community organisations. Experience working with clubs, community groups or volunteer organisations will be highly regarded. Mandatory requirements include a C Class Driver’s Licence, National Police Clearance, Provide First Aid Certificate and Working with Children Check.

For further information regarding this exciting opportunity, please refer to the application package (available by clicking the Apply button). For any queries not answered by the application package, please contact Tina Taylor, Manager Communities on 08 9188 4434.

Please Note: Canvassing of Councillors or Shire Employees will disqualify. All terms and conditions are as per the Shire of Ashburton Enterprise Agreement 2022 .
