MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
LED Light Rentals and Sales Pty Ltd, trading as Site Light Rentals, is an industry leader in providing innovative renewable, sustainable, energy and lighting solutions. We rent temporary lighting equipment, light towers, light trailers and associated equipment throughout Queensland to the construction, resources, and agriculture sectors.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team and work from our Ipswich workshop.
The Mechanical Engineering Technician will be responsible for:
* Assembling and installing mechanical assemblies and undertaking repairs to mechanical installations, components and facilities
* Performing tests of all mechanical components of equipment to meet design, safety and Australian standards
* Working with engineers and others to resolve issues and develop innovative solutions
Specific tasks may include:
* Assisting in the design of trailer-mounted light towers, and other mobile lighting equipment including mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components
* Reviewing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work and providing feedback as appropriate to mechanical engineers
* Manufacturing wiring harnesses and components, fitting and installation onto mobile lighting equipment
* Diagnosing, repairing and installing mechanical components such as masts, winches, jacks, legs
* Collecting and analysing data during R&D phase and assembly of prototypes of mobile lighting equipment and carrying out calculations, computations, revising designs and preparing diagrams and liaise with engineers
* Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical components, controls, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Performing and directing field and workshop tests, commissioning and prototyping of equipment and their components
The successful candidate will have:
Qualification
* a diploma or higher qualification in mechanical engineering or similar, or at least three years' relevant experience
Experience
* minimum three years' experience in similar role including working with mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* thorough working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and circuits and their functionality
* working knowledge of Australian standards
Skills
* Ability to use a range of hand tools including but not limited to drills, grinders, wire strippers/ crimps, soldering iron, screw drivers, sockets/ spanners etc
* Communication skills both written and oral and ability to create plain English reports and accurate records
* Ability to innovate and problem-solve
Licences
* Driver Licence
For a 40-hour week we will pay a base salary of $85 000 + superannuation.
