Tekton Construction Group is a growing construction business delivering commercial and private projects with a high standard of workmanship. We're looking for an experienced and reliable Leading Hand Carpenter to join the team – one who can lead from the tools, keep jobs running smoothly, and takes pride in doing things properly. Commercial experience would be highly regarded.
Immediate Start
The role
You'll be hands‑on onsite and responsible for leading others on the tools and coordinating day‑to‑day carpentry works across Central Coast projects. This role includes a mix of residential and commercial renovations and maintenance tasks for the Department of Education. If you only want "big feature projects" every day, this likely won't be the right role – but if you enjoy variety and consistently high standards, you'll fit in well here.
Key responsibilities
* Lead others on‑site and maintain productivity and quality
* Plan and run daily carpentry tasks according to the programme
* Set‑out and work from plans/specs/orders
* Coordinate materials, deliveries, and onsite workflow
* Maintain a safe, tidy site (QA checks)
* Communicate clearly and honestly with supervisors, clients, and other trades
What we're looking for
Essential
* Trade qualified carpenter (Cert III or Cert IV)
* Proven experience stepping into a Leading Hand / senior carpenter role
* Strong commercial carpentry/maintenance experience
* High attention to detail and consistent finish
* White Card
* Driver's licence + reliable transport
* Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
* Reliable, professional, team‑player
Preferred
* Some commercial experience (Department of Education projects would be a major advantage)
* Maintenance / fit‑out experience and willingness to jump on what's needed (doors, bathrooms, patch/paint, site establishments etc.)
