The Geelong Region Local Learning and Employment Network (GRLLEN) Inc is an incorporated, not-for-profit body operating under a Board of Directors. The GRLLEN comprises multiple agencies and individuals from the education, training and employment sectors who work together to ensure that young people and other job seekers in the Geelong Region are actively engaged in education, training and employment.

The GRLLEN runs a busy office supported by a small team of project staff who currently work remotely from their home offices and come into the GRLLEN office on regular occasions.

About the Role

The Project and Engagement Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for facilitating the potential for young people in the community to access education, careers advice and training to maximize their workplace learning. The role requires the Officer to consult extensively with schools, Department of Education and Training (DET) regional staff, employers and other stakeholders to agree to a regional plan, priorities and actions to achieve key performance indicators, and to identify priority and growth industries in the local area and the needs of schools.

Stakeholder engagement and projects include:

* Brokering and developing partnerships with key training providers, organisations and businesses.

* Engaging with schools, businesses and training providers to develop an industry/school engagement workplan and collaborate with other GRLLEN staff.

* Overseeing and providing support to GRLLEN staff and activities conducted by GRLLEN (including Geelong Region Disability Network, Project Ready).

* Support with the Marketing and Communications for GRLLEN.

* Developing project budgets and monitoring throughout project delivery.

* Representing the GRLLEN at regional and local network meetings to facilitate collaboration and further opportunities.

* Overseeing \"Skilling the Bay and Construction immersion\"

The position is part time and a 6-month fixed term arrangement with a possibility of further extensions subject to funding outcomes. Negotiable working hours fall between 8.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Experience, Skills & Attributes

* Solid experience in a position where similar specialist skills have been required.

* Experience in education, training, youth/social work, career development, community development or related qualification with relevant experience.

* A background in the education sector is beneficial with a solid understanding of the important links between schools and industry.

* Demonstrated ability to confidently initiate and develop collaborative partnerships and liaise effectively with businesses, schools and training providers.

* Demonstrated understanding of the education and employment needs of young people and requirements for successful transitions.

* High level interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships.

* Ability to work independently under limited direction and in a team environment.

* Capability to make decisions, solve problems and take actions in area of responsibility.

* Capability to establish priorities with a proven ability to meet objectives, KPIs and deadlines.

* Demonstrated experience preparing a range of documents and maintaining accurate records and databases.

* Competency with Microsoft Applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and Office 365.

* Current Working With Children Check or ability to obtain.

* Current Victorian driver’s license and own vehicle.

* Though not essential, the following would be beneficial:

* Knowledge of the regional labour market/industry.

* Knowledge of the VET sector in relation to school students, SWL, SbAT and senior school qualifications.

* Credibility and experience in dealing with the regional DET office and school principals.
