We are also committed to supporting our communities through our pro bono work.About The RoleOur team is growing, and we have an opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Compensation Law group reporting to one of our senior Partners.
You will join Australia's most experienced compensation law practice and work with government and other insurer clients to provide relevant legal advice and manage common law litigation regarding dust diseases and toxic tort claims on behalf of WorkSafe and other insurer clients.ResponsibilitiesAssist with the end-to-end management of a portfolio of mattersClient alignment and service, including client strategy reviewsWork closely with the Partner responsible for the dust diseases and toxic tort portfolioReviewing medical and other expert materialLiaising with employers, defendants and witnessesResearching and providing legal analysisRunning all aspects of litigation including the interlocutory process, preparing briefs and instructing at CourtDrafting Court documentsEngaging and liaising with plaintiffs\' representatives, Courts, counsel, doctors, experts and other stakeholdersPreparing advicesAppearing at court, conferences and mediationsAbout YouTertiary qualification in Law and a current Practising Certificate for relevant jurisdiction5+ years' PAE, including preferably experience in dust diseases and toxic tort litigationProven experience managing a portfolio of files end to endThe ability to manage own workloadCritical reasoning and investigative skills with the ability to think laterallyLegal drafting abilityEffective and timely file management and billing abilityThe ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, particularly the ability to earn the confidence and trust of key stakeholdersStrong influencing and negotiation capabilityGood verbal and written communication skillsHighly organised, able to plan and prioritise work to meet key deliverablesThe ability to question the status quo and offer practical solutionsIdentifies risks and complies with group risk management protocolCommerciality and pragmatismLearning agility - a willingness and ability to learn and develop new skillsAn ability to work through problems and exercise sound judgement on when to escalateAble to maintain confidentiality of informationHighly motivated with a strong work ethicA professional, client focused and ethical approachA team playerA resilient nature with the ability to remain calm under pressureCulturePeople choose Landers for our down-to-earth, collaborative and supportive culture.
