About The Role
As the Animal Management and Biosecurity Manager you will join the Compliance Branch to lead and develop a high performing team committed to professionalism and community safety.

Your main focus will be on

* Provide strategic direction and day‑to‑day management of the Animal Management team, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery
* Oversee compliance functions including domestic animal registration, enforcement activities, investigations, and complaint management
* Support and guide Animal Management Officers in field operations, customer interactions, and regulatory decision-making
* Manage partnerships with Council's contracted animal management services provider, veterinarians, and welfare groups
* Drive proactive programs that promote responsible pet ownership and reduce risks to community safety
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives, using data, policy, and technology to enhance efficiency and customer experience
* Ensure legislative compliance under the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, relevant local laws, and council policies
* Foster a positive, safe, and supportive team culture built on accountability, communication, and professional development

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

* Proven experience leading teams in regulatory, compliance, animal management, or related operational environments.
* Strong knowledge of animal management legislation, investigative processes, and local government operations including the operations of an animal management centre.
* A leadership style that empowers others, builds capability, and promotes teamwork.
* Excellent communication and conflict‑resolution skills, including the ability to support staff through challenging situations.
* Sound judgement and decision‑making under pressure, with a commitment to fair and consistent outcomes.
* A passion for community safety, animal welfare, and improving service delivery.
* Be agile in response to emerging matters and have the ability to prioritise competing interests

This is a permanent full-time position, with a salary commencing at $133,727 plus 12.5% superannuation.
