Production Engineer

As a Production Engineer, you will act as an essential link between industry stakeholders and our research capabilities, transforming innovative ideas into tangible prototypes and commercially viable products.
The successful candidate will lead and support design, development, and prototyping projects from initial concept through validation and production, adhering to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards. You will develop expertise in advanced 3D printing and manufacturing technologies, utilizing diverse materials including polymers, metals, resins, and ceramics. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and adopt best engineering practices across all activities.
You will engage regularly and effectively with industry partners, external suppliers, and stakeholders, providing technical guidance and mentoring to undergraduate and postgraduate research students. Furthermore, you will maintain detailed documentation of design processes, prototyping, production activities, and equipment management.
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. They will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confidently engaging with industry clients and diverse stakeholders. The candidate should have an interest or experience in digital design pathways, such as working with CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Fusion 360), 3D slicing software (e.g., Preform, 3DSprint, Eiger), and medical segmentation tools like Simpleware Synopsys. They will also demonstrate strong self-motivation to continually deepen understanding of manufacturing processes, with a focus on 3D printing technologies such as metal, polymer, and composite printing.
This is a fixed-term position primarily based at Griffith University Gold Coast, with opportunities for professional growth within a multidisciplinary, innovative, and industry-focused team. The full-time equivalent base salary range is $91,843 - $97,964 per annum, plus 17% superannuation.
