As a Disability Support Worker at Bamara, you will play a vital role in providing support to individuals under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Moree. This casual position within the Community Services department requires compassion, empathy, and a commitment to enhancing the lives of those with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
Providing direct support and assistance to individuals with disabilities according to their individualised NDIS plans.
Assisting clients with daily activities while promoting independence and community participation.
Supporting clients in developing life skills, including personal care, household tasks, and social interactions.
Implementing strategies to address challenging behaviours and promote positive outcomes for clients.
Maintaining accurate documentation and reporting on client progress and any incidents or concerns.
Engaging with clients in a respectful and person-centred manner to understand their needs and preferences.
Delivering high-quality support services that align with the goals outlined in each client's NDIS plan.
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, families, and other service providers to ensure holistic care for clients.
Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements related to disability support services.
Skills and Experiences:
Previous experience in providing support and care for individuals with disabilities (highly regarded).
Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and its processes (highly regarded).
Effective communication skills with people with disabilities, their families, and support networks.
Understanding of person-centred approaches to disability support.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
Ability to assist with daily living activities and personal care tasks.
Understanding of safeguarding and promoting the rights of people with disabilities.
Availability and willingness to work varying shifts including weekends, evenings, overnights, mornings, and normal hours.
Reliable and committed to attending all scheduled shifts.
Certification in First Aid.
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred).
NDIS workers clearance.
Working with Children's clearance.
Police check.
