Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development WA – Kununurra WA
There is currently one (1) 24 month fixed-term full time position, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency available for immediate filling.
Working closely with colleagues in Primary Industries Department and Plant Biosecurity, you will deliver impactful extension and industry development activities that support the growth of the agri-food sector. The role contributes directly to economic development, with a strong emphasis on export-led growth at enterprise level. You may also be involved in scientific research and investigative projects, helping translate innovation into practical outcomes for industry. In the position you will engage growers and members of the public, collecting growers' information, developing surveys and creating/holding workshops for growers/public on their productions, market access and trade practices in a number of crops.

Responsibilities
• Deliver extension and industry development activities that support the growth of the agri-food sector, with a focus on export-led growth at the enterprise level.
• Engage growers and members of the public; collect growers' information; develop surveys; and create/host workshops for growers and the public on productions, market access and trade practices in various crops.
• Contribute to economic development and potentially participate in scientific research and investigative projects to translate innovation into practical outcomes for industry.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across Kimberley and with stakeholders to achieve objectives.
Qualifications
* A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Agricultural Science, Science, or an approved equivalent.
* Knowledge of sustainable agri-food production systems and industry development principles.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
* A collaborative, proactive approach and confidence working with colleagues, growers and the community across the Kimberley.
* Experience contributing to projects and implementing practical improvements.
* A current driver's licence, and 4WD driving experience desirable.
* Willingness to travel and stay overnight within the state as required.
* Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
* The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
* Capability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
