Remuneration: $140,793.44 per annum + superannuation + salary packaging

Where you'll be working

Join our rapidly growing Maternal and Newborn Services team at Maitland Hospital, supporting approximately 2,400 births per year. You will work in a dynamic environment across the Birthing Unit, Midwifery Group Practice, Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service, and Antenatal and Gynaecology outpatient services. Our team values collaboration, innovation, and a strong focus on providing woman‑centred care that meets the needs of families in our community.


What you'll be doing

You will lead and manage a clinical services team, delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care for women, neonates, and families across the Maternity Ward, Maternity Pod, Lactation Service, Parent Education service and Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS). In this role, you will oversee daily operations, including clinical, operational and people management, ensuring care is evidence‑based, safe and delivered within professional and ethical standards. You will foster a collaborative and positive workplace culture, effectively manage resources to meet service and budget targets, and work closely with internal and external teams to coordinate patient care. Additionally, you will manage workforce functions such as recruitment, induction, professional development and performance management, while using service data to drive continuous improvement in line with HNE Health Values.

You bring demonstrated leadership experience in maternal and newborn services, with a proven ability to foster a positive, cohesive and high‑performing team. You excel in change management, resolving conflicts and building strong relationships with staff and stakeholders. With a track record of maximising resources and responding decisively to challenges, you are committed to service excellence, patient‑focused care and continuous improvement. Your influencing, negotiation and mentoring skills support the professional growth of your team, and you are passionate about creating a workplace culture of excellence, collaboration and respect in a constantly evolving healthcare environment.

Requirements

* Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice with APRHA and with Post Graduate management Qualifications or demonstrated clinical management experience.
