**Team Leader (Identified Position)**

**(Young people 18 - 21 years))**

To perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act.1991.

**Position Description**

**(SOCIAL, COMMUNITY, HOME CARE AND DISABILITY SERVICES INDUSTRY AWARD 2010 Level 6)**

**Hours**: 38 hours per week

**Wage**: SCHADS Award Level 6

**Location**: Caboolture based with outreach support across areas of the Moreton Bay region

**Conditions**: Subject to a 3-month trial

**Vision Statement**:

**Position objectives**:
1) To provide quality support, supervision and debriefing to the Cultural Case Management team that provide holistic therapeutic case management to young people exiting care both independently and those remaining with carers in the Moreton Bay Regional Council catchment area.

2) To work with the CEO and Board of Directors to inform and guide areas of the program for continuous improvement for organisational growth and harmony.

3) To manage high level reporting systems and support staffs with reporting and other legislative / contractual requirements including online platforms and Microsoft Office Suite programs.

4) To foster new and nature existing collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders both internal and external.

5) To represent the EPCS program to government and non-government agencies.

**Qualifications and Training**:

- Accredited qualifications in Management plus experience in the child, youth and or community work areas with demonstrated management ability and a minimum of 2 years' experience.
- Demonstrated high level Microsoft Suite skills and ability to learn and use online reporting platforms
- A current unencumbered driver's licence.
- A current Working with Children Suitability Check Blue Card. No Card, No Start as per legislation.
- Current Senior First Aid or willingness to acquire.
- **Knowledge**:

- Sound knowledge of program, budget and human resource management.
- Sound knowledge of the issues and needs of young people in a contemporary setting as well as the historical, cultural, and sub-cultural associations and impacts.
- An understanding of the issues and needs of children and young people in care and family needs and impacts.
- Ability to learn and abide by the Jabani Jinna Indigenous Corporation Policy and Procedure Manual and funding / legislative requirements.
- Ability to work under the supervision of the CEO and with the Board of Directors.

**Skills**:

- Ability to provide high cultural appropriate service delivery and engage, support and work effectively alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, young people and families in an outreach setting.
- Ability to recognize and report issues or concerns for staff / young people to the CEO and work in an action learning framework. JJIC policy and procedures see mandatory reporting of any form of child abuse.
- The ability to nurture and support a healthy team environment.
- Ability to work in collaboration with agencies and families / carers towards mutual goals and needs of children and young people.
- High level oral and written communication skills including advocacy, mediation and negotiation.
- Ability to undertake reporting as per funding agreements.
- The recognition of and participation in continuous improvement and professional development as important factors in the workplace.

**Experience**:

- Experience in managing challenging programs including all aspects of reporting, budget and human resources.
- Experience in providing support to staffs working with young people independently and / or with carers.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to carry out duties including reliability and consistency in employment.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Contribute to the accountable and timely provision of the program within budget constraints, in accordance with agreed performance goals.

2. To participate in the planning, development and delivery of effective programming to meet the outcomes of the program.

3. To lead, support and identify the needs of staff in their roles and to work with the CEO towards organisational growth and harmony.
