As a Child Safety Officer, you will work within a statutory environment to deliver vital services through a care team approach. You will engage with children, young people, and families to promote their safety, stability, and development while strengthening their support network.

About the Role

As aChild Safety Officer, you'll be at the heart of one of the most important roles in our community – protecting children and young people from harm and helping families build safer, stronger futures. Based in the stunning North West of Tasmania, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a lasting difference, every single day.

As a Child Safety Officer, you'll:

- Investigate and Assess:Receive and assess notifications of children at risk of harm from abuse or neglect.
- Case Management:Provide quality, timely, and effective intervention and case management services.
- Legal Interventions:Prepare and present information for court processes and make recommendations in the best interests of the child.
- Collaborate:Work with families, children, and other professionals to resolve issues and promote safety, stability, and development.
- Support and Guide:Engage with children and families to strengthen family capacity and monitor outcomes.
- Classification: Allied Health Professional Level 1-2
- Award/Agreement: Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement
- Location: North West (Burnie and Devonport)
- Hours of Work: Permanent full-time day work, fixed term full time and part time day work starting ASAP.

Please note: Other permanent and fixed-term full-time and part time vacancies that may arise in the future may also be filled from this process.

About You

We're looking for dedicated individuals who bring:

- A genuine passion for working with children, young people, and their families.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles, remain calm, and manage conflict.
- The ability to build relationships with stakeholders, families, and young people, both in person and over the phone.
- A commitment to self-care, continuous learning, and professional reflection.
- Individual resilience, emotional intelligence, and a high level of integrity.
- High empathy and the ability to set and maintain professional boundaries.
- A tertiary qualification approved by the relevant National Board, for example a Bachelor of Social Work, and eligibility for membership with the relevant National Board or professional association; or
- An alternative tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Psychology, Bachelor of Youth Work, Bachelor of Psychological Science; or
- An associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (AQF Level 5 or 6 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example a Diploma in Community Services.
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Employment Status).
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Pre-employment conviction and disciplinary checks will apply.
