Seeking an Assistant Accountant to join an organisation for a 15‐month fixed‐term contract starting in April to cover parental leave. This is a hybrid role, offering two days a week working from home. You will support the finance team's daily operations, including month‐end processes, reconciliations, tax activities, and general finance tasks, while working closely with the Corporate Finance Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting month‐end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal preparation.
* Assisting with BAS and FBT returns preparation.
* Collaborating with the UK finance team on excise and VAT lodgements.
* Maintaining the fixed assets register (additions, disposals, depreciation).
* Assisting with CapEx tracking and reporting.
* Setting up and maintaining lease schedules in line with financial policies.
* Providing routine finance support to operational teams (e.g., raising purchase orders, processing credits).
* Supporting ad hoc finance projects, analysis, and reporting.
* Preparing documentation for internal and external audits.
What We're Looking For:
* 2–4 years' experience in a similar finance or accounting support role.
* A qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Diploma / Cert IV or higher).
* A sound understanding of basic accounting principles and reconciliations.
* Strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
* High attention to detail with excellent organisation and time management skills.
* The ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
* A proactive approach with a willingness to learn new skills.
