We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with proven commercial building design experience to join our Civil Engineering team.

About the Role – Commercial Building Civil Design Focus
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will take responsibility for the management and delivery of a range of civil engineering projects within the commercial building design sector.
This role is not a bulk earthworks or roads-focused position — it is a building design civil engineering role, supporting developments such as:
* Commercial buildings
* Industrial facilities
* Mixed-use developments
* Structural building projects
* Urban infill and site development works
You will work closely with Directors, Civil Leads, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, economical, and compliant commercial building civil design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver commercial building design civil engineering projects from concept through to construction
* Manage civil design packages for building developments including siteworks, drainage, and services coordination
* Attend and contribute to client and project team meetings for building-sector projects
* Manage internal project planning, resourcing, and delivery
* Produce civil engineering mark-ups suitable for issue on commercial building projects
* Assist with schematic, tender, and construction documentation for building design works
* Apply sound engineering judgement to deliver practical and cost-effective civil designs
* Undertake design analyses using accepted methods and EDGE-approved software
* Proficiency with civil engineering CAD software is required
* Ensure QA procedures are followed and participate in design reviews
* Prepare client reports and project documentation
* Assist with fee proposal preparation for commercial building design projects
* Mentor and provide technical support to Civil and Graduate Engineers
* Build and maintain strong client relationships in the building development space
* Contribute to business growth and team capability
About You – Building Design Experience is Essential
You'll bring both technical capability and leadership maturity, with a strong background in commercial building civil design consultancy.
To be considered, you must have demonstrated experience in civil engineering design for commercial building developments.
You will have:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
* RPEQ preferred
* Typically 6–8+ years professional experience in civil engineering consultancy
* Experience with building/structures and commercial development projects is essential
* Proven commercial building design civil engineering experience (essential)
* Strong understanding of the construction and building development industry
* Experience delivering building-sector civil projects to scope, time, and budget
* Ability to independently apply engineering theory and judgement
* Experience producing detailed civil engineering drawings for commercial building sites
* Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
* Client-focused with a commercial mindset
* Commitment to ongoing professional development
* Working toward (or holding) Chartered status with Engineers Australia (or equivalent)
