New Product Development Team
Our diverse team in Sydney includes researchers, food specialists, industrial designers, UX designers, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, and quality engineers. We focus on translating ideas into engaging user experiences by understanding food science, user research, exploring new technologies, and collaborating with manufacturers.
Our product development methodology is rooted in exploration, experimentation, and iterative development to balance feasibility with user experience.
About the role
We seek enthusiastic, positive individuals who can work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver top-tier small domestic appliances globally. You will be an ambassador for the brand, creating new standards in food results and product interactions.
You should have sufficient experience to make informed design decisions, from concept to detailed development, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure consumer insights and commercial viability align with manufacturing capabilities. Your designs should reflect Breville’s brand values and aesthetic, providing seamless experiences and excellent food results.
This is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Alexandria, Sydney.
Key responsibilities:
1. Develop products within proposed schedules and cost targets.
2. Delegate tasks to multidisciplinary team members.
3. Participate in project research phases, managing related activities.
4. Contribute to product/component detailing during development and industrialization.
5. Create forms aligned with Breville’s brand language and design philosophy.
6. Innovate and identify strategic opportunities, working with the IP team on IP landscape navigation.
7. Challenge assumptions, develop innovative solutions with a humble attitude and food-centric thinking.
8. Consider diverse perspectives, business values, and needs to build strong arguments and negotiate effectively, fostering autonomy and trust.
9. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (suppliers) to develop and launch projects.
Qualifications and experience
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in best practice product development.
* Conceptual design skills, comfortable with uncertainty, lateral thinking, and value analysis.
* CAD proficiency (2D drawing, 3D modeling, graphic design software, image manipulation).
* Hand model-making skills for concept and visual models.
* Visualization skills (hand sketching, 2D drafting, rendering).
* Experience with mass production techniques and materials selection.
