Project Manager contract with Local Gov in Townsville

Our client is a local government client. An opportunity exists for a Project Manager contract within the Customer & Digital Services Team.
Your new role
1. As a project management specialist, effectively manage the completion of small to complex medium-scale and large projects across the project life cycle and provide advice and support to the immediate team and Section in respect to project management principles and best-practice.
2. Ensure quality customer outcomes / strong relationships with strategic partners through the use of effective customer service principles, educating customers, understanding the business, and by promoting a customer centric mentality across council.
* Define the project scope and develop project plans that achieve the goals and objectives and align with the Councils overall business strategy.
* Develop project documentation relevant to the size of the project.
* Ensure appropriate Project and Information Governance is applied to all projects including stage gate approvals, appropriate record keeping practices and reporting to relevant steering committees.
* Assemble and effectively lead project teams. Identifying skills and resources and assigning tasks and deadlines in consultation with appropriate stakeholders and customers.
* Define and sequence activities, accurately estimating task duration to develop and maintain a realistic schedule.
* Accurately estimating the project budget and monitoring and reporting actual spend to budget.
* Ensure the planned deliverables meet the expectations of the key stakeholders and maintain constant communications to provide these stakeholders with updates of the ongoing progress.
What you'll need to succeed
* Tertiary qualification (Project Management/Business) or significant industry experience within project/program management (Agile/Waterfall).
* ITIL or ITSM certifications preferred.
* Formal Project or Program Management qualifications with demonstrated industry experience.
* Current Queensland 'C' Class Drivers Licence.
* 5-10 years' experience in project management, ideally in larger projects in large and complex environments across the planning and delivery lifecycle.
* Proficient to an expert in Project / Program Management concepts and iterative development across a diverse enterprise environment.
* Demonstrated proficiency up to high level of skills and experience in delivering small up to multiple, complex projects simultaneously within a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
