About the Role:
As a senior technical professional you will be excited and ready for the challenge to step up to the role of Program Manager, Redslide and Lime. Working with our Refining Technology Group within Alcoa's Centre of Operational Excellence based at Kwinana, Western Australia you will be part of a team supplying alumina refining technology, technical support and laboratory services to Alcoa refineries worldwide.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Leading a team working to improve Alcoa Refining's overall performance, across the cost, production and environmental domains, through delivering a program of research and development projects and technical support initiatives.- Identifying both short term developmental opportunities and technical responses to long term strategic needs, aligning closely with refinery and corporate objectives.- Provide budgeting, business case evaluation and project management guidance across the research program.- Maintaining close working relationships with refinery based customer groups & the other functional groups who support them. You will also facilitate best practice and help chain support to these groups as required and may be required to lead a Community of Best Practice.- Facilitate the achievement of research goals by evaluation of staff performance, counselling, coaching and provision of suitable training and development for staff.- Ensure an innovative work environment by encouraging reporting staff to keep abreast of the latest developments in their field.- Facilitate the protection of Alcoa's intellectual property by ensuring that appropriate procedures are followed during the development of new processes.- Contribute to the achievement of safety goals by taking an active role in departmental safety programs, and ensuring that excellent laboratory, pilot and plant trial safety standards are maintained.

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success you will possess a relevant degree in science, engineering or a related discipline, preferably at honours or postgraduate level, and expertise in Bayer process chemistry is considered essential. Operational Bayer process experience will also be highly regarded.
With well developed and demonstrated organisational, leadership and people management skills, you will have a proactive, positive, innovative outlook and strong practical problem solving skills. You will also be a collaborative team player, with superior oral and written communication abilities and have an overriding commitment to values driven behaviour and safe working practices.
