Overview
Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Balmain Hospital. We are looking for a Director of General Practice Casualty. The Director of Balmain Hospital General Practice Casualty holds responsibility as the medical leader and manager of the Balmain General Practice Casualty (GPC) clinical services (including Hospital in the Home (HITH) and fracture services), medical staff and training, research and quality programs, and other functions relevant to General Practice Casualty (GPC). Balmain General Practice Casualty provides walk-in acute and sub-acute care to the local community, including Hospital in the Home (HITH) and minor fracture and wound management services. The Director will lead the clinical and strategic development of these services, working with district partners to strengthen Balmain\'s role within the broader urgent and community-based acute care landscape. This is an opportunity for a clinician with a strong urgent care mindset to shape a service that bridges general practice, emergency medicine and hospital-based urgent care in close collaboration with Primary Care and the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN).
The Director of General Practice Casualty will carry a clinical load, providing General Practice medical care and services for inpatients and non-inpatients attending ambulatory clinics. They will provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in General Practice, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within General Practice Casualty and Balmain Hospital. SLHD has also developed their Management Accountability Framework, to guide all department heads across all disciplines within SLHD in managing and supporting staff to build effective teams.
Qualifications
* Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Fellowship with Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM), or Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM), and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
