About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Workshop Manager to lead the operations of the EIS Manufacturing Workshop, a key facility supporting teaching and research across the Faculty. In this role, you will oversee workshop infrastructure, equipment, and a team of technical staff to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery to academic staff, researchers, and students.
You will be responsible for managing workflows, allocating resources, and maintaining operational efficiency, while supporting innovative research and teaching outcomes.
About the Faculty
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences is a research-intensive and globally connected faculty with strong links to industry and government. With approximately 8,000 students and delivery across multiple international campuses, the Faculty is committed to excellence in education, research, and innovation. The Manufacturing Workshop plays a vital role in supporting a wide range of technical and research activities across multiple disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead and develop a team of technical staff, ensuring workloads are effectively planned, prioritised, and allocated to meet operational demands. This includes providing guidance, supporting performance development, and fostering a collaborative and safety-focused culture.
You will manage workshop operations by coordinating project requests, advising on design feasibility, and ensuring clear communication regarding timelines, costs, and resource availability.
The role includes providing technical support to laboratory teaching and research activities, including coordinating resources for laboratory classes, supporting inductions, and assisting with the procurement, setup, and commissioning of equipment.
About You
You are a skilled engineering professional with significant experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment and a strong track record in team leadership. You bring the ability to manage competing priorities, allocate resources effectively, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex environment.
You will have an Advanced Diploma in Engineering or equivalent experience, along with strong organisational capability, sound judgement, and a commitment to workplace health and safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
