The position ensures the deliveryof exceptional counselling, wellbeing and allied health services aligned with best practices and ChevalierCollege's values. It requires a balance between clinical duties, team management and the developmentof proactive wellbeing initiatives for students and staff. Due to the nature of the role, some after hourswork may be required for events and meetings.Role RequirementsStrategic Leadership and CoordinationLead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of counsellors and allied health professionals,ensuring adherence to ethical practices and codes of conduct.Manage referrals, triage processes and caseloads, using a stepped-care model.Liaise with the Assistant Principal – Wellbeing and Growth to coordinate the integration ofwellbeing initiatives across faculty programs and curriculum delivery.Develop, implement and regularly review policies, procedures and frameworks (e.g. schoolrefusal, suicide risk management, and child protection).Collaborate with senior leadership and external agencies to align practices with the College’spastoral care and wellbeing goals.Counselling and Case ManagementProvide evidence-based therapeutic support to students, especially those with complexpresentations or limited access to external services.Undertake psychological assessments (e.g. cognitive, social-emotional) and contribute toIndividual Learning Plans (ILPs).Offer crisis intervention and postvention support, responding to critical incidents and studentneeds.Attend case conferences and House Review meetings.Assist with Educational Access Scheme (EAS) and NESA disability provisions for the HSC.Coordinate care with external providers and make appropriate referrals.Work with families to support student wellbeing and engagement.Facilitate small group programs targeting skills such as mood management, mindfulness andcommunication.Support Year 6 to Year 7 transition planning and wellbeing.Team Supervision and Professional DevelopmentWith relevant qualifications, provide peer supervision, ensuring best practices in casemanagement, note-taking and adherence to professional ethics.Deliver professional development for staff to enhance understanding and support of studentwellbeing.Mentor and guide allied health staff to meet professional standards and facilitate ongoinglearning.Community and Staff WellbeingLead and support College-wide wellbeing initiatives for students and staff, e.g. RUOK Day,Student-Led Wellbeing Summits.Act as the key liaison for child safety matters, RoSH reports, and legal compliance.Build strong networks with external specialists to ensure effective referral pathways.Data, Reporting and CommunicationSupport the Assistant Principal - Wellbeing and Growth to manage the collection, collation andanalysis of wellbeing-related data to inform policy and practice improvements.Contribute to relevant school publications.Support the College’s management and response to subpoenas, and coordinate with DCJprocesses as required.Key Selection CriteriaEssential:o Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as apsychologist (general or provisional).Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).Current driver’s licence.Desirable:Ability to supervise practicum student placements.Postgraduate qualifications in educational or clinical psychology.Additional training in wellbeing, trauma-informed care, or school-based mental health.Professional ExperienceProven ability to deliver evidence-based counselling and therapeutic interventions foradolescents.Experience supervising and managing multidisciplinary teams.Familiarity with creating and implementing wellbeing programs for educational settings.Expertise in psychological assessments, case formulation and reporting.Skills and AttributesHigh-level organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated capacity to lead initiatives in a collaborative and strategic manner.Knowledge of current issues impacting adolescents, including diverse backgrounds andneeds.Commitment to confidentiality, ethical practices, and reflective professional growth.OtherAbove award salary.Conditions as per the NSW Catholic Independent Schools (Support Staff – Model B) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2023.Professional development opportunities funded by the College.This is a child-related position.
