Lead, manage and develop a dynamic team of Youth Justice staff
Contribute to community safety and rehabilitation of young people
About Youth Justice
The department's Youth Justice Service provides programs and resources to assist young people who have offended to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to manage their lives effectively without further offending. The Youth Justice program is primarily responsible for supervision and case management of young people between ***** years of age who have committed offences and been sentenced to community or custodial based statutory orders and/or on release from custody on parole. Through supervision, offending related programs and linkages to appropriate support services, the program promotes opportunities for rehabilitation and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community.
About the Role
As the Team Leader, you will provide strong leadership to a team of staff who will promote the personal development of young people who offend and contribute to the diversion and rehabilitation of the young person and the reduction of crime in the community. You will plan and have oversight of service delivery, along with supervising case managers in the day-to-day delivery of services to clients. You will plan, develop, implement and monitor client service plans and short and long-term intervention strategies. Your responsibilities will include supervising and providing leadership to the team, providing authoritative advice and support to Youth Justice workers in preparing reports, undertaking assessments whilst ensuring that the case managers implement all aspects of case practice responsibilities. You will also be expected to come with necessary skills in understanding the operational business requirements within Youth Justice and the broader department.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will demonstrate:
A strong understanding of the youth justice system and the Children, Youth and Families Act ****
An advanced understanding of the principles of case management and case work
Demonstrated leadership/mentoring skills and experience
Excellent stakeholder management skills
The ability to effectively influence and negotiate
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A Bachelor of Social Work or Advanced Diploma in Community Services Work is highly desirable. Other tertiary qualifications at Advanced Diploma or above will be considered, only if they include units of study in case management/casework practice and has had supervised practical work placements.
A full driver's licence is required due to some travel required in the northern suburbs, and additionally for any need to respond to emergencies across the state at short notice and outside business hours as required.
A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
