Offer description

Collins SBA | Hobart, Tasmania | Hybrid/Remote | $85,000 – $110,000 + Super

Wanted: Quality-Dedicated, Mentor at Heart

You get a quiet satisfaction from catching errors before anyone else sees them. You're the person colleagues turn to with tricky technical questions. You genuinely enjoy helping less experienced accountants level up their skills, and you're not too reserved to jump in, give feedback, and guide them through challenges.

You take pride in delivering work that's so complete, so accurate, it needs barely a glance before sign-off. The idea of handing your manager a job "on a golden platter" appeals to you because you care about quality, not just ticking boxes.

You're confident enough to lead a small team, but humble enough to keep learning. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

What You'll Do

This isn't a client-facing role (unless you want it to be). Your job is to manage workflow, maintain quality control, and develop three accountants who report to you.

You'll

* Manage task allocation and deadlines across your team
* Review financial statements and tax returns for accuracy and compliance
* Coach team members through technical challenges, especially around Xero
* Deliver work that's 95–100% complete before it reaches your Senior Client Manager
* Identify process improvements and smarter ways of working

Success looks like: Your Senior Client Manager receives work that requires minimal review. Your team feels supported and confident. Deadlines are met. Quality is consistent.

What You Need

Experience & Skills

* 5+ years in public practice accounting
* Proven ability to review and improve work from junior accountants
* Advanced proficiency in Xero (non-negotiable – 90% of our clients use it)
* Strong knowledge of Australian tax compliance, including Division 7A, CGT concessions, FBT, SMSF compliance, and tax planning

Personal Attributes

* Confident communicator comfortable leading others (you can't be too reserved)
* High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
* Collaborative mindset aligned with our "whole-of-team" approach
* Task-driven but people-focused

CPA or CA qualification desirable, but not essential.

What We Offer

* Salary: $85,000 – $110,000 + super
* Flexibility: Hybrid or remote, full-time or part-time (minimum 4 days/week)
* Location: In Hobart OR Remote
* Growth: Opportunity to expand into client advisory work
* Culture: We prioritise people over productivity
* Our commitment: We respond to every applicant within one week
