Senior Site Reliability Engineer Role
This role involves working with modern tooling such as Kubernetes, GitLab CI, Kafka, Java and Python to build and support highly available mission systems.
The successful candidate will be hands-on with development, automation and observability, while leading engineering practice improvements and working closely with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop and support software and integration services (Java, Python, scripting) to meet mission and user experience requirements.
* Build and maintain automated CI/CD, container orchestration and observability using tools such as Kubernetes, GitLab CI, Kafka and Linux.
* Lead and contribute within an integrated agile team, improving engineering practices, documenting technical processes and reporting on schedules and progress.
* Identify system interdependencies, collaborate with stakeholders and design technical solutions that effectively manage organisational data assets.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a senior DevOps/SRE or software engineer using Kubernetes, GitLab CI, Kafka, Linux, Java and Python in complex environments.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work with business areas and varied technology providers, lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
* Demonstrated ability to design robust technical solutions that meet mission, performance and availability requirements, including effective data management practices.
* Desirable experience with NiFi, S3, Flink, OIDC and monitoring stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana and Loki.
Working Details:
The successful candidate will be required to work onsite in Canberra, ACT. The contract duration is 12 months + 2 x 12-month extension options (up to 3 years total). The remuneration for this role is estimated to be between $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, paid in Australian dollars.
