This is a dynamic, multi-phase role for a developing engineer to support a major water infrastructure project. The position bridges the gap between the final stages of global procurement and physical site execution, offering a unique opportunity to oversee the transition from factory testing to onsite installation.
Client Description
The employer is a global leader in water infrastructure and process engineering. They manage large-scale environmental projects across Australia, specializing in complex systems for water treatment and resource management. This specific project involves high-visibility assets including chemical buildings and dewatering systems, coordinated across international supply chains.
Scope of Role
The role is structured into two distinct operational phases:
* Phase 1: Equipment Quality & Procurement: Managing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), international inspections, and technical documentation.
* Phase 2: Site Coordination & Erection: Transitioning to "boots on the ground" oversight of mechanical installations, subcontractor management, and QA/QC.
* In-Scope: International stakeholder management (China/Europe), ITP/ITR completion, and material laydown management.
* Out-of-Scope: Primary HSE officer duties, final design approvals, or commercial negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
* Quality Assurance: Manage the FAT/Inspection calendar and coordinate with third-party inspectors to ensure equipment meets project standards.
* International Coordination: Act as a technical liaison between vendors in China and Europe and the local project team in Australia.
* Site Supervision: Oversee mechanical installation and site erection activities, ensuring subcontractors adhere to technical specifications.
* Documentation: Maintain rigorous QA/QC records, completing all necessary ITP/ITR documentation for handover.
* Logistics Support: Manage onsite material deliveries and laydown areas to ensure a smooth flow of equipment to the installation face.
Qualifications
* Education & Experience: A degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) with 2–5 years of professional experience in a project or site environment.
* Logistics: Currently based in Australia with a valid driver's license and a reliable personal vehicle for site attendance (4 days per week).
* Technical Versatility: Ability to shift seamlessly from document-heavy quality compliance to active field supervision.
* Software & Systems: Proficiency in RIB CX or similar project management software is highly regarded.
* Industry Background: Prior experience in water treatment, mining, or heavy infrastructure is a significant advantage.
* Communication: Strong ability to coordinate across multiple time zones and work with diverse international stakeholders.
