Randstad is proud to partner with a prominent Local Council located in Footscray to recruit an experienced Communications and Community Engagement Support Officer. This dual-focus role is perfect for a professional who thrives on variety, blending high-level content creation with hands-on community interaction. Pay Rate: $60 – $65 per hour super Location: Footscray. Contract Length: Temporary, up to 14 weeks. Role Responsibilities Supporting both the Community Engagement and Media & Communications teams, you will deliver clear, accessible, and high-quality activities across the municipality. Content Creation: Draft and format engaging content for web, social media, print, and internal channels using plain language. Event Logistics: Support the planning, logistics, and on-the-day delivery of in-person engagement activities and community events. Digital Engagement: Set up online surveys, manage engagement platforms (such as Social Pinpoint or Bang the Table), and prepare simple reports on community responses. Administration: Prepare information packs, maintain stakeholder lists, manage purchase orders, and provide secretariat support. Feedback Collection: Collect and collate community feedback to help inform Council decision-making. Key Selection Criteria To be successful in this role, you must meet the following mandatory requirements: Council Experience: Previous experience working within a Local Government environment is essential. Journalism Background: Strong background in journalism or professional writing, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex info into accessible "plain language". Engagement Expertise: Proven experience in organizing and delivering both digital and in-person community engagement activities. Technical Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specialized engagement portals (e.g., Social Pinpoint, Bang the Table, or Open Cities). Interpersonal Skills: High-level communication skills with the ability to work effectively with CALD community leaders and diverse stakeholder groups. Previous experience working in customer-focused roles, including community engagement, communications or engagement delivery, is desirable.
