We're growing and are looking for a Government Affairs Adviser to join our team.
About the role
This is a hands-on advisory role supporting our clients' engagement with the Australian Government, opposition, parliament and the public sector. You'll work directly with senior consultants and clients to develop and execute government relations strategies across a range of sectors and policy issues.
Day to day, this will include:
Monitoring political, policy and regulatory developments relevant to our clientsDrafting strategic briefings, engagement plans, Q&As and supporting collateralPreparing clients for meetings with ministers, parliamentarians and senior officialsConducting political and policy research and analysisBuilding and maintaining relationships across the political landscapeSupporting the development and delivery of advocacy campaigns
This role has real scope for growth. We're a small, senior team and you'll get direct exposure to complex, high-stakes work from day one.
About you
You bring a genuine understanding of how government works — whether from a political office, a government department, an industry association, or a consultancy. You're a sharp thinker and a strong writer who can translate complex policy into clear, strategic advice.
We're looking for someone with:
2–5 years' experience in government relations, public policy, political advisory, or a related fieldA strong understanding of Australian political institutions and the federal policy landscapeExcellent written and verbal communication skills — you can draft a compelling brief and hold your own in a meetingThe ability to manage multiple client priorities with professionalism and discretionA non-partisan mindset and comfort working across the political spectrumAn eye for detail and genuine intellectual curiosity about policy and politics
Experience in a lobbying firm, in-house GR role, political office, or peak body will be well regarded.
