About Council

The Role

As Multicultural Support Officer you will play a vital role in engaging culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) children and their families to enhance participation in early years education and support smooth transitions to school. This position focuses on building strong relationships with local refugee, asylum seeker and CALD community groups, service providers, and educational institutions to foster inclusion and accessibility. You will also address barriers to kindergarten participation by offering tailored individual support and delivering the Ready Set Learn program, ensuring families are well-informed and connected to early childhood services.

This is a part-time, fixed term role supported by Government Funding. Your 16 hours of work per week could be spread across 2 or 3 days per week with the hours being flexible.

About You

You are a compassionate and community-focused professional with a tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Community Development, or Social Services.You bring a strong understanding of early childhood education principles and a proven ability to engage community and deliver inclusive programs for CALD children and families. Your interpersonal skills allow you to build trust and rapport with diverse communities and you thrive in collaborative environments. You're adaptable, solution-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement. A current Victorian Driver's Licence and a valid Working with Children Check are essential for this role.An understanding of the DE Best Start, Best Life reforms would be beneficial.
