Site Overview
Mount Magnet hosts a mix of active and historic open pit, underground, and satellite mines with a 17‑year life. At its core is Galaxy Underground, featuring high‑grade Mars and Saturn zones mined via long hole stoping — open along strike and depth, with drilling underway to extend beyond the current 3‑year resource.
About The Role
As the Senior Planning Engineer, you will drive the future of the Galaxy underground by integrating, reviewing, and optimising Life‑of‑Mine and short‑to‑medium‑term plans. Working closely with geology, engineering, and operations, you’ll deliver strategic mine planning, economic analysis, and forecasting to support production, cost performance, and informed decision‑making.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* Lead mine planning activities and ensure alignment with operational and strategic requirements
* Deliver monthly, quarterly, and Life‑of‑Mine forecasts and schedules
* Develop, compare, and rank mining strategies with Geology and the Underground Manager
* Produce and present optimised LOM plans to operational and technical teams
* Refine mining studies for upcoming underground projects to ensure execution readiness
* Prepare annual physicals and contribute to operational and capital budgeting.
* Set annual cut‑off grades across varying gold price and operating scenarios
* Optimise sequencing and mine layouts by integrating drilling results and block model updates
* Oversee primary ventilation designs and upgrade projects
* Work with specialist consultants on mine design and optimisation
* Provide leadership and technical guidance to the Planning Engineer and broader technical services team

* Ability to interpret, analyse, and optimise mining costs, cut‑off grades, and economic evaluations
