Position Information
Glenorie Public School is located in Regional North and has a student enrolment of 283. Students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds with 2% of students identifying as Aboriginal and 16% from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background. Extra‐curricular opportunities in sport, Italian, STEM, and Creative and Performing Arts enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences. The school culture is that of connectedness, inclusion and belonging with students, staff, parents and the wider community working together to promote school excellence.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Additional to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with demonstrated capacity to work as part of the executive team and effectively balance the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher and Assistant Principal.
- A passionate and collaborative leader with the proven capacity to lead improvement through the implementation of cognitive load theory and explicit teaching practices, such as the gradual release of responsibility and spaced retrieval practice.
- Proven ability to lead with integrity and emotional intelligence, building positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community to enhance learning and wellbeing across the school.
- Deep understanding of evidence-based research, instructional leadership, and data analysis, with proven ability and/or willingness to lead high-quality teaching and learning programs in K‐2 aligned with the NSW Curriculum and School Excellence Plan.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
