We're seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager in the Western Downs Region to oversee quality assurance during construction, commissioning, and operation of the Wandoan South Solar Project with a total capacity of 487MWdc.
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Projects & Execution this role will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to embed quality measures throughout the project lifecycle, manage inspection records, and drive root cause analysis for any quality issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee quality assurance processes throughout the construction and commissioning phases of the solar farm projects.Review and approve contractor Inspection & Test Plans (ITP/ITC) while conducting regular site inspections across civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines to ensure full compliance with EPC contract specifications.Develop and implement robust quality control procedures, along with corrective action plans to address any issues.Ensure all work adheres to strict safety protocols and complies with relevant regulatory standards.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to embed quality control measures into every stage of the project lifecycle.Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, test outcomes, and quality concerns.
Prepare detailed quality reports and perform supplier inspections as necessary.Drive root cause analysis (RCA) efforts for any quality failures and support tracking of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) with the project manager.Own and manage the NCR/Punch List Register and collaborate with construction leadership to ensure timely closure of open issues.Conduct monthly drone flights to visually assess and document construction progress.Evaluate milestone payment claims submitted by contractors and provide accurate assessments.Participate in on-site monthly progress meetings to represent quality interests.Liaise with the Owner's Engineer (OE) and Lender's Engineer (LE) regarding engineering documentation and milestone payment verifications.Prerequisites:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.Certifications in Quality Assurance, Solar Technology, or Construction Management are highly desirable.Minimum of 5 years of experience in the solar industry, with at least 2 years in a quality assurance or quality control role.Possess a deep understanding of complex, large-scale energy projects, often spanning multiple jurisdictions.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues proactively and efficiently.Strong organisational abilities and keen attention to detail, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant project management or QA software tools.Clear and effective communication skills, paired with the confidence to lead and collaborate across diverse teams.Foster a strong team-oriented mindset, promoting collaboration and shared success.Adopts a proactive, safety-first approach in all activities.Maintain sharp situational awareness, anticipating challenges and responding swiftly.Seniority levelSeniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionJob functionQuality AssuranceReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at Vena Energy by 2x
