Job DescriptionThe Australian Financial Review is seeking a driven Legal Affairs Reporter to lead the AFR's coverage of the legal sector, focusing on the key firms and legal personalities, their performance, significant movements, and major court decisions and appointments.Day to day you will:Break news on big firms, including their financial performance, strategic/personnel changes, legal policy issues and misconduct.Cover the broader professional services sector, including accounting and consulting, as required.Work with various story formats, from live blogs to long-form features and newsletters.Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts throughout the legal sector.Collaborate with other journalists and editors on coverage plans and projects.Work with editors and journalists to ensure AFR coverage is accurate and up to date.QualificationsWhat you'll bring:Previous experience as a journalist.Legal training, experience and/or contacts would be an advantage.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.Strong writing skills across various formats, including news and features.Experience working as a team player, preferably within a newsroom environment.Experience in digital article production including headline writing and image selection, or a willingness to learn.Additional InformationNine is Australia's largest locally owned media company.
