About the Team The Learning Design team sits within the Learning Design & Technology Unit in the Education Portfolio of the Division of Education and Students. The Education Portfolio leads the provision of a distinctive UTS education for staff and students, contributing to student success through quality teaching and engaging and innovative curricula. Our teams work in partnership with Associate Deans Education, Course Directors, Subject Coordinators, Academics and Professional Staff at UTS to achieve our purpose and meet the goals of the faculties. About the Role The Learning Design Officer (Modern Chinese) works collaboratively within the Learning Design Team to partner with faculties in developing new and enhanced digital learning experiences for students across the UTS curriculum. The incumbent also has responsibility for translating learning materials from English into Modern Chinese. If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for:
• Designing and building online learning modules and assessments in Canvas using digital tools, HTML and basic CSS, with guidance from learning designers and academics.
• Creating engaging, inclusive and accessible learning materials using university standards and accessibility guidelines and updating content where needed.
• Supporting academics to use digital learning tools by providing advice, resources and training to improve student learning.
• Testing and helping introduce new learning technologies and contributing ideas to improve digital learning and teaching practices.
• Working with team members and stakeholders to deliver learning projects on time and maintain quality standards. HEW 6 additional duties:
• Planning and building full subjects with academics and learning designers, and handling more complex support and training needs.
• Managing small projects and mentoring junior or casual staff when required. Demonstrated ability to set goals, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes to agreed standards and timelines.2. Strong communication skills and digital literacy, including intermediate proficiency in HTML and inline CSS, for developing online learning experiences.3. Native, or near native, speaker of Modern Chinese with the ability to translate between Modern Chinese and English4. Familiarity with digital learning platforms and tools that support online and blended learning (e.g., Canvas, H5P, HTML).5. Experience applying learning design principles to develop high-quality digital learning resources, ideally for tertiary students.6. Experience supporting academics or subject matter experts in course design and effective use of learning technologies. Remuneration & Benefits Base Salary Range: $83,906 - $105,385 pa (HEW 5/6) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
