Role
Applications are sought from experienced Geology Technicians to work in our busy coreyard for one of our underground mines.
Responsibilities
* Day-to-day coreyard work, including core jig-sawing, metre marking, orientation marking, core photography, density measurements if required, magnetic susceptibility readings if required, pXRF readings if required, core cutting or whole core sampling, QAQC inserts and sampling, geometallurgy sampling, sample despatch and paperwork, and sample transport if required.
* Liaison with the drillers, and escalate any core quality issues immediately to the Senior Geology Technician and Drilling Supervisor.
* Maintain high QAQC standards for drill core processing operations including mark-up, orientation, photography, RQD, densities, sampling, etc. Balance high quality core processing with efficiency.
* Ensure correct and accurate sample submission paperwork, and carry out computer processing of the data.
* Ensure compliance at all times with the Company's QAQC procedures.
* Contribute to improving coreyard efficiencies by raising ideas with the Senior Geology Technician on coreyard setup, core workflow, and data collection per program.
* Cleaning and maintenance of the coreyard racking and rollers, core-saw, geology vehicles and equipment, supplies and other services.
* Data entry and other computer tasks.
* Deliver samples to the lab and ensure they are delivered clean, tied, and ordered sequentially.
* Assist Senior Geology Technician with stocktake each swing of supplies at the coreyard and generate Pronto orders to replenish supplies from Stores. Work with Stores to ensure coreyard and geology supplies are store-stock items at the Davyhurst Store.
About You / Qualifications
* Previous relevant grade control coreyard experience is highly regarded.
* Previous underground or pit technician experience is desirable.
* Enjoy a broad range of physical field related duties.
* Ability to work effectively within a team.
* Good communication skills (written and oral).
* Computing skills.
* Ability to work unsupervised.
* Must have a strong safety focus.
* Current C class manual drivers licence.
* Current High Risk Work Licence (Forklift truck).
* Current First Aid certificate.
