A Shutdown Coach to be in the client's team and educate personnels on site about shutdown activities, what is involved, supports the execution phase of a shutdown by coaching frontline supervisors, coordinators, and crews to ensure safe, efficient, and effective delivery of shutdown activities. Their role isn't about managing the shutdown directly but enhancing the capability of those who do.
Key Responsibilities:
On-the-Ground Coaching:
Observe shutdown leaders and supervisors in the field and provide real-time coaching on leadership, communication, safety, and productivity practices.
Reinforce Shutdown Plans:
Ensure supervisors and crews understand the shutdown scope, critical path, constraints, and daily priorities.
Promote Safety Leadership:
Support field leaders in applying safety systems like permit-to-work, JHAs, risk assessments, and critical controls consistently.
Support Execution Discipline:
Encourage effective toolbox talks, daily briefings, shift handovers, and deviation management.
Behavioral Coaching:
Provide feedback to enhance leadership behaviors, accountability, and decision-making in high-pressure shutdown environments.
Act as a Liaison:
Identify gaps in execution readiness or leadership capability and feed this back to shutdown management for continuous improvement.
Typical Background:
Experienced in shutdown management, frontline leadership, or maintenance execution
* Strong interpersonal and coaching skills
* Familiar with mining maintenance standards and shutdown planning
