Salary: Teacher, $85,610 - $124,046 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2023)

Are you a dynamic, creative and culturally responsive teacher? Do you have the interest and desire to develop expertise in teaching online?

We are seeking to establish a pool of Psychology, Biology and Human Biology Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) is seeking dedicated, motivated and innovative teachers of Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Psychology, Biology and/or Human Biology. We are looking for enthusiastic and culturally sensitive operators with strong curriculum knowledge, who will bring classroom energy into our online environment, inspiring and engaging our students around Western Australia and beyond.

As a teacher at SIDE, you will be fully supported to develop your skills in online teaching, enabling you to create engaging and culturally responsive materials to cater for student diversity. Graduate and newly qualified teachers are also encouraged to apply for this pool.

SIDE offers a range of lower secondary and senior secondary Science subjects. Suitable applicants may teach one or more senior secondary subjects within the Science Learning Area, as well as lower secondary Science.

Suitable applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team. Having a positive attitude with the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, and showing initiative, flexibility and creative problem solving to produce the best opportunities for students will be highly regarded.

Teachers at SIDE participate in our regional travel program to meet the needs of students and partner schools. Visits are planned in negotiation with staff and may include short-term stays in regional and remote locations. SIDE has a main campus in Leederville and teaching facilities at Canning College, Clarkson Community High School, Northlake Senior Campus and Eaton Community College. Metropolitan-based teachers may be required to work at current or future metropolitan venues.

Eligibility and Application

- hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
