Overview
Working within the Medical Records Office and the Emergency Department at Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service, you will be responsible for registering emergency/elective admissions and attendance to the Emergency Department. Ensuring that registrations and patient admissions are done in a timely and professional manner, you will enter patient information into the computer system, completing all administrative details and forms and attaching an identification band to the patient. You will promote good public relations by efficiently and effectively performing general reception duties including maintaining the after-hours Switchboard and attending to the after-hours Reception Desk. Retrieving Medical Records for patients in the Emergency Department as requested by clinical staff, you will maintain the medical record tracking system to ensure movement and location of medical records is known. The casual staff are required to backfill sick leave and some planned leave and may be required at very short notice. The positions that the casual staff cover, are rostered over a 24-hour period, 7-days per week.
With prior experience in providing confidential clerical and administrative support services, you will have proven skills in the provision of high-level customer service. You will have sound knowledge of office systems and procedures, including proficiency in word processing packages and a willingness to expand your computer skills and knowledge. A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal abilities, you will be capable of interacting with people from a wide range of backgrounds and working as an effective member of workplace team. Your commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality will go hand in hand with your ability to demonstrate courtesy, discretion and sensitivity in dealing with telephone and personal inquiries.
