The role will be a 9 month contract position reporting directly to our Valuation Team Manager.About The RoleAs a Valuation Actuary you will be responsible for conducting quarterly valuations, performing actuarial analyses and reporting as well as experience investigations. In addition to this, the position will be responsible for assisting with actuarial department initiatives and contribution/participation to/in projects.You can look forward toDuties And ResponsibilitiesConduct quarterly valuation: collection and analysis of data; calculation of actuarial reserves and report on the results.Monitor and report business insight on product experience and identify potential trends and issues.Monitor and report client specific experience at a quarterly and ad-hoc basis for key stake-holders.Perform experience investigations.Review processes and procedures and suggest opportunities for improvement where possible.Support other teams in reviewing and improving data integrity.Actively contribute to implementation of changes in financial reporting and other actuarial developments within the company.Participate/contribute to both actuarial and Company-wide projects.Assist other ad hoc tasks as required.You come equipped withAbout YouExperience & Qualifications:Nearly or newly qualified actuary (FIAA or equivalent), with at least 5 years’ experience in the Australian Life insurance industry, or equivalentUndergraduate degree in Actuarial StudiesAdvanced level excel skillsRelationship management skillsKnowledge of RiskAgility/MoSes, Access, SQL, VBA and Power BI are desirableSelf-motivated with a desire to achieve continuous improvement in processes and analysisExcellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectivelyClear and effective communication both written and verbalStrong analytical and problem solving skillsStrategic thinking capabilitiesAbility to liaise at Board and senior levelAbility to work with minimal supervision and as part of a teamPersonal QualitiesProfessional integrityAbility to listen and demonstrate empathySound judgement with a non-bias viewConfidentialityAbility to meet deadlinesIt is a requirement that all applicants have unlimited rights to work in Australia i.e. must either be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency.What Do We Offer YouAre our values “Responsibility”, “Drive” and “We-Spirit” aligned with yours?
