General
The 7-9 OSO is responsible for managing the effective running of the junior school (Years 7 to 9) administration and collaborating closely with the 7-9 Deputy Principal, Heads of School and Year Level Leaders to ensure the timely and accurate completion of all processes in accordance with established policies. It is also expected that the OSO will conduct themselves in a consistent, professional, courteous, and efficient manner at all times and actively model our school values of Belonging, Curiosity and Achievement.
As the 7-9 OSO, this position will work co-operatively with both internal and external clients and will involve close interaction with a range of stakeholders. It will also include interaction and collaboration with all staff.
Responsibilities
The major tasks, accountabilities and responsibilities associated with the position are:
7-9 Team assistance
* Phone support for 7-9 Leadership team, taking messages and problem solving.
* Helping 7-9 Leadership team to manage online calendars, booking parent meetings, interpreting service etc.
* Following up with students out of uniform, including logging on Compass
* Signing in and out loan school uniform items. (spreadsheet for stocktake)
* Maintaining toilet register, signing in and out bathroom key during sessions
* Producing various reports for members of the 7-9 Leadership team as needed
* Provide assistance to 7-9 Leadership team with information for the follow up of Student Detention / Reflection non-attendance.
* Copying and supply of work provided by teachers for those in student reflection, detention or internal suspension sessions.
* Providing scribe support to Student Support Group meetings where required
Supervision of students
* Provide supervision for academic catchup.
* Provide supervision for exited students from classes.
* Provide supervision for students on internal suspensions.
* Study centre backup supervision
* Provide supervision support for catchup & detentions.
* Provide support for students utilising the Junior Sub-School Office to regulate
Student services
* Maintain student padlock and locker register.
* Upload padlock info on student profile.
Attendance
* Calling home for students with consistent late arrivals to class
* Referring problem attendance to 7-9 Leadership team /wellbeing
* Making phone calls homes each day for non-attendance.
* Chase up teacher to mark all rolls every session in timely manner.
* Student medical certificates scanned and uploaded to Compass
School Events
* Work with Accounts Payable Officer in regard to payment and consent of events on Compass.
* Follow up families and students for payments and permissions for events, excursions.
* Attend excursions / camps where appropriate as negotiated
Year 7 Transition
* Work together with 7-9 Deputy Principal and Student Transition Leader to coordinate the Grade 6 /Year 7 transition process
* Regularly communicate with the Year Level Leaders, Inclusion Leader and Wellbeing team for any students that may require additional support.
* Communications with incoming families and Primary Schools as required to support the transition process.
NAPLAN
* Work together with Assistant Principal (Learning) to coordinate the NAPLAN administration process

About our School:
Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College is a new school that opened in Werribee in January 2024. On opening Walcom Ngarrwa, welcomed 177 Year 7 students to the school community. Over the coming years, the school will add a new year level every year through until 2029, when we will have students from Year 7-12.
