About The Role
This role places the customer at the centre of all activities while promoting a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuity. It models positive workplace health and safety behaviours, ensures compliance with policies and legislative requirements, and supports the delivery of Council's Corporate Plan by fostering an outcomes‐focused, value‐adding approach. The position also contributes to maintaining critical business operations during unplanned disruptions, including emergencies or disaster events.
The role provides high‐level executive and professional support to the Deputy Mayor, requiring sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality. Key responsibilities include managing communications, preparing reports, correspondence and presentations, coordinating travel and expenses, and ensuring governance requirements are met. The position proactively manages calendars, meetings, and work commitments, ensuring the Deputy Mayor is well briefed and supported to operate effectively and efficiently.
In addition, the role manages enquiries and correspondence, monitors responses across divisions, and provides advice, research, and draft responses where appropriate. It maintains an awareness of Council's strategic and operational matters and local issues, keeping the Deputy Mayor informed as required. The role also delivers comprehensive meeting and event support, including logistics, agendas, minutes, and action tracking, to ensure smooth coordination of workshops, seminars, and meetings.
About You
* Demonstrated ability to role model a positive safety culture through visible leadership, due diligence, and compliance with Health and Safety Management Systems and legislative requirements.
* Certificate IV or Diploma in Business (Administration) or equivalent experience.
* Extensive experience providing high‐level executive support in a similar role.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong time management, planning, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to change, and meet tight deadlines.
* Proven experience delivering high‐quality executive‐level written and verbal communication, demonstrating discretion, sound judgement, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
* Highly developed stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, fostering trust, collaboration, and effective working relationships across the organisation.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of local government operations and environment.
* Ability to lead by example and support others to adapt positively to change.
