Technical Portfolio Manager

This role oversees and manages the portfolio of technology projects and initiatives within an organization. The Technical Portfolio Manager ensures that all projects align with the organization's strategic objectives, deliver value, and are completed on time and within budget.


Responsibilities:

* Manage a team of technical project managers and business analysts
* Foster a culture of support by setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback, effective training, one-on-one coaching, mentoring to drive high performance
* Create a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives
* Ensure each project is meticulously planned, executed, and delivered on time and within budget
* Establish a prioritization framework to ensure critical projects receive necessary resources and attention
* Regularly review project progress, performance metrics, and outcomes
* Proactively identify potential risks that could impact the portfolio, develop and implement mitigation strategies
* Perform ongoing risk assessments to identify new risks and update existing mitigation plans
* Ensure stakeholders have visibility of delivery plans, milestones, and targets across all projects
* Oversee vendor performance ensuring effective collaboration and performance
* Maintain processes and systems to ensure outcomes are monitored, tracked, evaluated, reported, and optimized


Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Information Technology, or relevant applied industry experience
* 8+ years of experience in technical project management, at least 4 years in a senior leadership role
* Proven experience turning around or revitalizing a PMO
* Led or supported uplift of delivery frameworks, governance, and portfolio processes in a complex environment
* Experience managing project budgets, financial forecasting, and delivering within financial constraints
* Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
* Experience in Agile methodologies and practices
* Proficiency in Microsoft Project, JIRA, or other portfolio management software
* Demonstrated ability managing relationships and performance with external vendors and service providers
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
