Job Description
Nine.com.au, Australia’s largest news, sport and entertainment network, is looking for an Associate Digital News Producer to help drive the digital output for 9news.com.au. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of the biggest news sites in Australia and would suit someone looking for their first role in media or early in their career looking to take the next step at a major media outlet.
We're in the business of captivating audiences through powerful storytelling and quality journalism. With this in mind, we 're looking for someone who is energetic and innovative, passionate about news, and excited about the future of media.
The Associate Digital News Producer role is based out of our North Sydney office, working alongside the digital news, video and social media teams. Our ideal candidate will be energetic, engaged and keen to prove themselves in a busy newsroom environment.
News is a 24/7 operation and weekend and evening work will be required.
Day to day you will:
* Cover breaking news, blog major breaking news events
* Update developing stories and explainers
* Pitch and generate content ideas across all media platforms for Nine.com.au and 9News.com.au, from the website to Google Discover and TikTok
* Implement best SEO best practice for all content
* Monitor the performance of your stories to best understand our audience
Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
* Demonstrated writing skills essential, with proven ability to produce clear compelling copy
* Ability to source original news stories
* Ability to quickly identify newsworthy stories and angles
* Ability to quickly and accurately gather information from various trustworthy sources
* Excellent communication skills in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent knowledge of the English language, grammar and syntax
* Strong digital platform skills and a working understanding of all emerging technologies
* An excellent understanding of legal best practices, including defamation laws
* Knowledge of Adobe Express is an advantage
