We're looking for an OO6 Ranger in Charge (Fire) to lead and coordinate the K'gari Fire and Pest Management Team. You will cooperate with the Butchulla First Nations people to protect K'gari's cultural values and assets, and co‐deliver enhanced operational fire and pest management outcomes.
Position status: Fixed Term Temporary, Full‐time, OO6, Wide Bay. Salary: $94,704 – $99,582 per year.
Responsibilities include:
* Coordinating and managing the K'gari (Fraser Island) Fire and Pest Management Team to deliver the region's priority across natural resource management.
* Coordinating and delivering the planned burn program, bushfire preparedness and response with the Senior Ranger.
* Providing specialist fire and NRM management direction and supervision of the K'gari Fire Management Team, NRM team, and other operational management personnel.
* Collaborating with the Traditional Custodians and following the Values Based Management Framework Fire Strategy to maintain healthy ecosystems while keeping life, property and visitors safe.
The position is based on K'gari (Fraser Island) where rangers work a 10/4 roster. Rangers are required to live on island during their shift and are provided single accommodation. Travel to other locations on the island may be required. Daily commuting on a charter air service to and from Hervey Bay may be considered for this position but cannot be guaranteed.
