Position description:
Wintringham's Ron Conn Nursing Home seeks a friendly volunteer to accompany recreation staff and residents on fishing outings. Your knowledge and passion for fishing will help create enjoyable experiences for residents, supporting them to stay socially engaged and active in the community.
Responsibilities:
* Accompany recreation staff and residents on fishing outings (fortnightly).
* Assist with fishing activities and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
* Engage with residents, sharing stories and conversation about fishing.
* Help maintain and check fishing equipment between outings.
* Provide feedback on items that may need to be replaced or purchased.
Skills required:
* Friendly, patient and reliable.
* Confident around fishing activities and safety.
* Enjoys working with older people and creating positive connections.
* Willing to work alongside staff and follow safety procedures.
Location: Ron Conn Nursing Home, 33 Westminster Drive, Avondale Heights 3034
Time commitment:
* Fishing outings occur once per fortnight.
* Flexible days and times to be confirmed with the Volunteer and Recreation Coordinator.
* Optional visits between outings to chat with residents and assist with equipment.
