An exciting opportunity exists for a Peer Support Worker to join the Fairfield Community Mental Health Service, based in Carramar. In this role, you will provide peer-supported transfer of care for consumers transitioning from an acute inpatient unit to the community. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver recovery-oriented, evidence-based peer support that promotes hope, empowerment and self-determination. You will support consumers to navigate the mental health system, access community and external supports, and strengthen their recovery journey through shared lived experience. The role also contributes to recovery-focused clinical practice by offering lived experience consultation to staff and supporting service delivery through designated administrative tasks.

* The ideal candidate brings lived experience of mental health recovery and a strong commitment to recovery oriented, person centred practice.
* You will be confident using your lived experience to provide individual and group peer support, promote therapeutic optimism, and support consumers to achieve their recovery goals.
* You enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, value reflective practice and supervision, and contribute positively to quality improvement and service development.
* Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a commitment to NSW Health values, safety and ethical practice are essential.
Selection Criteria
* Recognised Degree or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer. Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness to complete
* Describe a time you used your lived experience to deliver recovery oriented, person centred peer support for a consumer transitioning from hospital to community.
* Provide an example where you contributed to service improvement or improved consumer outcomes by applying evidence based peer support and quality improvement methods.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
