Clinical Nurse/Midwife Opportunity in Alice Springs
As a key member of the Emergency Department at Alice Springs Hospital, you will play a vital role in supporting ED staff with screening, testing, and treatment, while mentoring others in sexual health care.
This position is critical to the coordinated public health response to the NT syphilis outbreak. You will sit within the Emergency Department to support ED staff in implementing the Chief Health Officer directive to offer routine syphilis screening to eligible people attending any NTG health service.
The successful applicant will build capacity for routine syphilis screening in the ED by supporting nursing staff through education and mentoring around identifying eligible patients, performing syphilis serology and point of care testing (POCT), and treatment of symptomatic presentations.
Strong clinical judgement, education skills, stakeholder collaboration, and patient database utilisation are essential to success in this role.
