About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for an experienced and motivated Communications Manager to join the University Infrastructure (UI) Engagement team, with a primary focus on leading and strengthening internal communications, in shaping and protecting UI's reputation, image, and voice across a range of channels, fostering clear, consistent, and impactful communication with employees, stakeholders, and external partners.
The Communications Manager will lead the development, implementation, and management of UI's internal and corporate communications and engagement strategies. This role plays a critical part in shaping and safeguarding UI's reputation, image, and voice across diverse channels, ensuring clear, consistent, and impactful communication with employees, stakeholders, and external partners, with a strong emphasis on building a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Working collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team, Senior Management Group, and colleagues across UI and the University, the Communications Manager will craft high-quality corporate messaging, oversee media and corporate storytelling, drive engagement initiatives, and manage communication platforms to strengthen UI's visibility and credibility.
Operating with a high level of autonomy, the Communications Manager will translate strategic priorities into effective operational activity and enhance communication outcomes through data-driven evaluation and continuous stakeholder feedback.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* provide communications leadership, guidance and direction to UI, fostering innovation, excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement
* lead corporate storytelling and messaging by crafting compelling narratives that reflect UI's mission, vision, and values
* manage communication platforms including the UI Intranet, SharePoint pages, social media, and websites, ensuring content is current, accurate, and engaging
* develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies to foster strong relationships, align expectations, and enhance service satisfaction
* develop, implement, and maintain UI's communications and engagement policies and processes, ensuring consistency, compliance, and effectiveness.
About you
* experience developing and implementing strategic communications
* experience producing engaging and effective content by using various content management systems
* experience writing for diverse or specific audiences with strong attention to detail
* ability to communicate effectively coupled with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
* ability to work collaboratively in a team along with strong project management skills.
